About us

Who are Cadillac Jukebox?

Cadillac Jukebox are a covers band based in West Yorkshire, but who will happily travel anywhere in pursuit of the perfect gig (and a good pint or two), and have been together, in our current form, since January 2007.

Named after one of James Lee-Burke’s evocative, Louisiana-based, detective novels, we are as passionate about the history of good old rhythm and blues, as we are happy to play it (as long as we like it, of course).

Most of our music is an eclectic, some might say, eccentric selection of personal favourites, but then we are British – this is what we do. Whatever we play, we like to mix it up and keep it funky and you on your toes (well feet actually).

For more details of the songs (or some of them at least) in our repertoire, please visit our “Set List” page. If you have your own requests or ideas, please just let us know – after all, we might even say “yes”!

The Band Members

Ian (Vocals)

Likes the life as a lead vocalist – to each gig he needs his mic, a spare battery, and a stand for his mic. Occasionally he pushes the boat out by bringing a plastic bag containing throat lozenges, but usually he just lets the other guys carry all the heavy stuff.

Ian is NOT the person to ask technical questions of with regards to the PA, or how the magic of electricity works.

Martyn (Bass)

Apart from playing bass in Cadillac Jukebox, Martyn also makes a living scaring people such as debtors.

In addition he hates people who drive in the middle lane on motorways.

Martyn also likes to sing backing vocals, unless the bassline is too hard, then he’s fully employed keeping up with his fingers.

Phil (Guitar)

Phil enjoys working in confined spaces, especially vocal booths. Phil IS the man to ask about the magic of electricity, however, and always has a wonderful array of gadgets and spanners with him.

Phil likes scaring the rest of the band with stories about accidents involving cars and his left hand, just before they go on stage, or into a studio to record their latest raft of songs.

He also sets fire alarms off by accident as part of his day job!

Paul (Drums)

Paul is a classically trained actor and drummer. He manages to fit Cadillac Jukebox gigs into his busy schedule as an in-demand thesp. Last season he received near-perfect notices for his Iago in the Woftborough Players’ production of Othello and the Edinburgh Blench called his Benedick “a triumph of gifted unusualness”.

Whilst the above is made up, it’s too funny to remove, so there.

Paul doesn’t understand the phrase “turn your snare down”, and enjoys buying new, ever louder elements for his PA rig.

Ade (Keyboards)

One of the reasons the Cadillac Jukebox engine continues to tick over nicely is because of the Chobham nuclear accident in 1976. Though largely unseen behind a bank of knackered old keyboards, there among the soldering irons, orange peel and half chomped packets of wine gums, Ade tinkles the ivories with his three arms. And yeah, he also has the ability to see through walls, but that’s less useful to the band than his having a secret arm, of course.

Nope, I’m not changing this either (good work, Mike). Adrian is, however, a talented chap, and is responsible for all the photos on the entire Internet (all the nice ones anyway), and in particular those that appear on this site.
